Our Founder saw in solar energy an incredible opportunity for rural households to access a clean and reliable energy that would unleash the potential of millions of people and drive sustainable economic growth in remote areas in Africa.

2015
Izili was founded by Baobab Group as an independent entity and is now active in 6 African countries : Senegal, Madagascar, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Benin and Burkina Faso.
Now
In early 2025, Biolite became the majority shareholder of Izili. In addition to our historical partnership with Baobab Group, we have forged strategic partnerships with other MFIs, international companies and Telco operators to continue our growth and provide a wide range of life-changing products to households and entrepreneurs in Africa. In 2026 Qotto group joins Izili.
